Traffic Alert: High traffic volume, parking changes this weekend

Seattle police are warning visitors and residents that arterials, downtown streets, and some freeway on and off-ramps will be closed intermittently over the course of the weekend. Pride celebrations, combined with a visit by President Obama, will require road closures and slow traffic in the downtown core.

Expected Closures

Friday

  • North part of downtown: Buses on surface streets will be rerouted
  • McGraw Square: The South Lake Union Streetcar will continue to operate, but this stop will be closed.
  • Parking on downtown streets: Restricted “as needed.”
  • Washington State Convention Center: Some parking garages will be closed near this area.
  • Road closures: Per the United States Secret Service, vehicle access to the area bounded by Olive St., 7th Avenue, Lenora St and 4th Avenue will be limited to 5th Avenue between Lenora and Virginia and on Stewart between 6th and 7th Avenue. Commuters may still walk into the area but may be subject to security screening.

  3. I’m shocked that I found this info so easily.
