Plunge into construction site ends with DUI arrest

car in construction site

Emergency responders who arrived at the scene of a crash on Friday night found a white sedan sitting in a construction site, at least one floor below ground level. Two adults and two children were in the vehicle when it ran off the roadway, crashed through a fence, and landed in a pit at a construction site at MLK and Union.

The sedan was sitting upright in the pit, which will become part of the underground parking structure of a four-story building with residential and commercial space.

The 39-year-old driver was arrested for driving under the influence. He is also being charged with three counts of reckless endangerment for risking the lives of the car’s three passengers. He is being held on $4,000 bail.
