Commuters on I-5 found that traffic was practically at a standstill this afternoon after a rollover crash on northbound I-5 stalled traffic in both directions. A camper flipped over on the left-hand side of the road, blocking the HOV lane and two other lanes on the highway. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes near Boeing Field, but both directions of travel on the interstate were hit hard by the slowdown.
There was a four mile backup in the southbound lanes and a three mile backup in the northbound lanes. Northbound I-5 was completely blocked as crews righted the camper. By 3:30 p.m., crews had cleared the overturned vehicle from the road, but the jam took much longer to clear during peak commuting hours.
Non-life-threatening injuries were reported in the car accident.
